Becker’s Hospital Review recently recognized 70 chief strategy officers – including Bon Secours Mercy Health’s David Cannady – for their forward-thinking work that drives growth and innovation across the health care sector.
Cannady joined Mercy Health in 2017 to lead the organization’s innovation, strategic planning and marketing functions. Over the last eight years, he has helped the organization double in size through the merger with Bon Secours, welcomed three Virginia hospitals via acquisition, helped to expand service lines and worked to improve efficiency across the organization’s 10 domestic markets. He has also helped the organization grow its B2B services, ultimately making health care easier and more effective.
Previously, Canady served as vice president of the Strategic Resource Group at Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). In this role, he led a team that provided strategic planning and consulting for growth initiatives and hospital operations, managed reporting and progress on the strategic agenda, and helped develop strategies on service lines, clinically integrated networks and clinical co-management programs.
A North Carolina native, he holds a bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina and a master’s degree in health administration from Duke University. He serves on the board of Cintrifuse, an innovation technology company based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
