Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) Chief Nurse Executive Veronica Scott-Fulton, DNP, MBA-c, MPH, BSN, BA, NEA-BC, has been named one of the 2023 Hospital and Health System Chief Nursing Officers to Know by Becker’s Hospital Review.

The list recognizes 153 nursing leaders who are committed to optimizing health care.

Scott-Fulton joined BSMH in 2023 to lead nursing strategy for the ministry’s nearly 22,000 nurses working across the care continuum. In this role, she works to ensure the highest standards for professional nursing practice and quality outcomes.
Before joining BSMH, Scott-Fulton served as chief nurse executive for Ascension Health’s Illinois market, overseeing the nursing strategy for 14 hospitals and 5,000 nurses. Her experience includes serving as executive director of Nursing Operations for Miami Children’s Health System in Miami, Florida; vice president of Operations and Patient Care Services for Baptist Health System’s Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida; and regional vice president of Patient Care Operations for Women & Children’s Services for HCA Healthcare. Scott-Fulton also served as the Wisconsin market chief nurse executive for SSM Health, a Catholic, not-for-profit health system with care delivery sites in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
Scott-Fulton earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, and she earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology/psychology and a master’s in Public Health Administration from the University of South Carolina. She holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Clinical Operations from the University of Miami and received her business education in the Executive MBA program at the University of Florida.
