The Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA) has appointed John Starcher, BSMH president and CEO, to its Board of Trustees, effective July 1. The announcement was made during the CHA’s annual assembly held in San Diego June 9 – 17.
Starcher was appointed because of his strong commitment to advancing and advocating for Catholic health care. He and the board will help CHA fulfill its new vision “to empower bold change to elevate human flourishing.”
In addition, Fr. Joseph Cardone, chief mission officer, Bon Secours Mercy Health has completed his service on the CHA Board after two three-year terms. BSMH Chief Human Resource Officer Joe Gage remains on the CHA Board.
CHA, founded in 1915, advances the Catholic health ministry of the U.S. in caring for people and communities. Comprising more than 650 hospitals and 1,600 long-term care and other health facilities in all 50 states, the Catholic health ministry is the largest group of nonprofit health care providers in the nation. Every day, more than one in seven patients in the U.S. is cared for in a Catholic hospital.
