Biography

Sr. Patricia Eck, CBS is Congregational Leader for the Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours of Paris.  Sr. Pat entered the Sisters of Bon Secours in 1966. She has since built a fifty-year health care career with positions in nursing, management and sponsorship for Bon Secours Health System (BSHSI). She has served on the Leadership Team of the Sisters of Bon Secours in the USA for a number of terms.

Sr. Pat is a recognized leader in the Catholic health care field, and is a past chairperson of The Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA) Board of Trustees. She is a former member of the board of Mercy Housing and the Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB). Sr. Pat also serves on the Compensation and Pension & Investment Committees of the BSHSI Board. Sr Pat has served on the Finance and Audit Committee of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), and was appointed Treasurer & Chair of the Committee from August 2013 through December 2017. As Treasurer she was a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the LCWR. Sr. Pat is currently serving as Chair of the Member of Friends in Solidarity and is a member of the Resource Center for Religious Institutes (RCRI) Board of Directors. Sr Pat has a master’s degree in nursing from The Catholic University of America (Washington, District of Columbia) and a master’s degree in health administration from the Medical College of Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, Virginia).

In 2007, Sr. Pat received the Sister Mary Concilia Moran Award from CHA for visionary leadership and commitment to Catholic health care. In 2011, Sr. Pat received the Papal award, Cross Pro Ecclesia et Ponifice medal, the highest honor given to a member of a religious community by the Vatican. Sr. Pat received an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters from the University of Scranton in 2012 and an honorary Doctor of Science from Fairfield University in 2017.
