Debbie Bloomfield, PhD, CPA, Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) chief financial officer (CFO), today announced her intent to retire at the end of 2024, after more than three decades of mission-focused, financial excellence at the health system.
Beginning July 1, Bloomfield will transition from her role as CFO, shifting to financial leadership oversight of BSMH’s subsidiary companies, as well as the Real Estate, Construction and Facilities management functions, and other management arrangements. She will maintain these responsibilities until her retirement at the end of the year.
Throughout her tenure with the ministry, Bloomfield served in various roles, including CFO of the Cincinnati, Springfield, Paducah and Lima markets before expanding her scope and being named the CFO of the health system in 2013. That year, she was named “CFO of the Year” by the Cincinnati Business Courier.
During the last decade, Bloomfield provided steady leadership over financial results during often challenging times, ensuring the continued fiscal viability of the ministry. In addition, she standardized and centralized the finance function, implemented and formed the Real Estate, Construction, and Facilities management function, and founded the group purchasing organization, Advantus Health Partners.

Travis Crum, current senior vice president of finance, will assume the role of CFO, effective July 1. In his current role, Crum leads many finance functions, including accounting and financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, capital planning, tax, accounts payable, payroll and financial decision support. He has served in a variety of other roles since joining BSMH in 2010, including assistant controller and corporate controller for Mercy Health.
“When I started with Mercy Health (later Bon Secours Mercy Health) in 1992, I knew I had found a professional home and my true calling,” said Bloomfield. “It has been an honor to serve this dynamic and innovative health system each day as we fulfill our commitment of caring for those in need, ensuring quality, compassionate health care will be accessible to our communities for years to come.”
