Peter Maddox has served as a member of the Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) Board of Directors since its formation in September 2018 and was named chair on January 1, 2023. He served on the Bon Secours Health System Board prior to the merger of Bon Secours and Mercy Health.
Mr. Maddox has more than 37 years of experience in the health care field, specializing in health care strategic development as a member of Royer-Maddox-Herron Advisors. Previously he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Incarnate Word Health System (IWHS). During his tenure there, Mr. Maddox served as the project leader when IWHS and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston combined their health ministries to create CHRISTUS Health.
Before joining IWHS, Mr. Maddox was vice president for Santa Rosa Health Care Corporation in San Antonio and for Healthplex, Inc., in Dallas. He also served the University of Texas Health Cancer Center – M.D. Anderson Hospital, where he was responsible for the management, liaison and coordination of institutional activities, programs and research projects for the organization’s cancer prevention division. While at the University of Mississippi Medical School, he was responsible for developing a maternal/child health program utilizing certified midwives throughout six southeastern states.
Mr. Maddox holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
