Melanie Green

Leading with Purpose: Meet Melanie

Dr. Melanie Green is a dedicated leader in health care education, serving as Chancellor of Bon Secours Mercy Health Higher Education Institutions. She oversees the strategic educational initiatives of four institutions: Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing, Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital School of Medical Imaging, Southside College of Health Sciences and Mercy College of Ohio. In this role, she fosters collaboration between the colleges, the Culture & Talent team, ministry leadership and external partners to enhance the quality and reach of health care education.

Throughout her career, Dr. Green has been committed to advancing mission-driven education. Her journey with Bon Secours Mercy Health began with a calling to serve in faith-based education. While considering leadership roles at multiple health care institutions, she chose Bon Secours because of the people she met — leaders who deeply embodied the mission of the Sisters of Bon Secours. Since then, the students, faculty, and staff she has worked alongside have continually reaffirmed her commitment.

Under her leadership, Bon Secours Mercy Health’s higher education institutions have expanded their mission-based learning opportunities, providing students with hands-on experiences that reinforce the values of compassion, service, human dignity and the sacredness of life. She takes great pride in seeing students and faculty embrace this calling — not just in their careers, but in their daily lives — carrying forward the ministry’s legacy of bringing good help to those in need.

Vision & Passion

“Education is more than just knowledge — it’s about shaping compassionate, skilled professionals who see their work as an extension of healing ministry. The faculty and staff who lead our mission-based community service efforts — and the students who voluntarily participate — consistently share how these experiences transform their commitment to serving others. It is an ongoing, inspirational example of how we instill the values of compassion, service, human dignity and sacredness of life.”
