Matt Caldwell, President, Bon Secours — Greenville

Matt Caldwell serves as president of Bon Secours — Greenville, where he leads efforts to advance the Bon Secours Mercy Health mission across the Upstate by improving access, quality and outcomes for the communities the ministry serves. Since joining the Greenville market in 2019, Matt’s collaborative leadership approach and focus on operational excellence have helped drive significant growth, strengthen patient-centered care and position Bon Secours as a leading regional health system.

During his tenure in Greenville, Matt has led a period of substantial market growth, including the development of new medical campuses, freestanding emergency departments and ambulatory care facilities that bring care closer to growing communities throughout the Upstate. His leadership and commitment to community impact have been recognized by Greenville Business Magazine, where he was named one of the “50 Most Influential People in Greenville” and later inducted into the publication’s Most Influential People Hall of Fame.

As of January 2026, Matt also has system oversight responsibilities for Ambulatory Ventures, partnering with market leadership across Bon Secours Mercy Health to develop the strategy and growth of the ministry’s ambulatory surgery center and retail imaging center footprint. This work supports the organization’s continued evolution toward convenient, high-quality outpatient care that improves access and affordability for patients.

A nurse by training, Matt began his health care career in bedside care and case management, providing him with firsthand insight into the caregiver experience and the importance of compassionate, patient-centered care. Prior to his time at Bon Secours Mercy Health, served as CEO of Tennova Healthcare in Tennessee, CEO of Dallas Regional Medical Center in Texas and gained health care leadership experience at other Texas hospitals in varied roles, including chief operating officer, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care support.

In my role, I’m inspired and driven by our Mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
