Bill Maher

Bill Maher is the group chief executive officer (CEO) for Bon Secours Health System in Ireland. In this role, Bill oversees a network of five hospitals across Cork, Galway, Limerick, Tralee and Dublin, as well as Bon Secours Care Village in Cork. 

A skilled business professional, Bill has more than three decades of experience in health care. Among his many responsibilities, Bill has overseen strategic planning, staff engagement, contracting and service agreements, performance, operations and clinical governance systems.  

Bill previously served as group chief executive for Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Hospitals Group — a seven-hospital system serving Dublin and Northeast Ireland. He also established and led Ireland’s Saolta University Health Care Group.  

He remains an honorary associate professor for RCSI.

• Developed and launched a 2025 plan outlining the strategic vision, goals and initiatives for Bon Secours Health System in Ireland 

• Oversaw fundraising and launch of a $300 million capital campaign to support the 2025 strategic plan 

• Led the merger between Bon Secours Health System in Ireland and Bon Secours Mercy Health 

• Developed the business case for an electronic health records system and secured a provider partner for a 2025 go-live
