Alan Sharp serves as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Bon Secours Health System in Ireland where he serves as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Bon Secours Health System Ireland. Alan oversees the strategic direction, operational performance, and continued growth of the country’s largest independent hospital group. His leadership philosophy ensures that patients remain at the core of all decisions, driving continuous improvement and reinvestment in high-quality, accessible health care services. 

Alan joined Bon Secours in 2019 from Mater University Hospital in Dublin where he worked for over 10 years. Beginning as a hospital engineer, he swiftly progressed to director of estates before being appointed CEO in 2019. During his five years as CEO, Alan spearheaded transformative initiatives, including the development of a state-of-the-art 98-bed hospital wing, the integration of artificial intelligence to enhance patient care services and the development of an early phase cancer trials unit. 

Alan’s career is built on a foundation of engineering expertise. He began his professional journey with Irish Rail before transitioning into the multinational manufacturing sector, including roles with IBM and HP. After earning his degree while living in Oregon, USA, he returned to Ireland in 2006 and commenced with St James’s Hospital in 2008, marking the start of his commitment to health care innovation.
