Adam Groshans, MBA, President, Mercy Health — Springfield

Adam Groshans serves as president of Mercy Health — Springfield, overseeing acute care hospitals in Clark and Champaign counties and health services extending into Logan and Greene counties. He leads efforts to improve access, enhance patient experience, and drive strategic growth while fulfilling Bon Secours Mercy Health’s Mission of serving those in need.

Adam assumed the role of president in 2019 after serving as the market’s chief operating officer for two years. With more than a decade of health care leadership experience across Texas, Tennessee and Ohio, he has developed expertise in operations, service line growth, market expansion, workforce development and patient experience.

Under Adam’s leadership, Mercy Health – Springfield has helped launch new programs and services including interventional neurology and a midwife program as well as expanded oncology care into the Urbana community with a new Cancer Center. He has been recognized multiple times as a Becker’s Hospital Review CEO to Know and was named Dayton Business Journal’s 2025 Executive of the Year.

Before joining Bon Secours Mercy Health, Adam served on the administrative leadership team at Tennova Healthcare in Tennessee and as Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development at Dallas Regional Medical Center. He began his health care career in marketing and recruitment for nursing, allied health and clinical professionals.

Adam holds a Master of Business Administration from Cumberland University and dual bachelor’s degrees in business/marketing and psychology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas.

Deeply committed to the Springfield community, Adam serves on several boards and committees, including the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association Board of Trustees, Greater Springfield Partnership Board of Directors and SpringForward Board. Additionally, Adam serves as chief growth officer for Ohio, leading growth strategy across the state and fostering strategic engagement to advance opportunities within the communities we serve.

Career Achievements

  • Launched Mercy Health - Springfield’s Interventional Neurology program, expanding advanced stroke and cerebrovascular care locally, including minimally invasive procedures, advanced diagnostics and specialized neurovascular treatment options
  • Oversaw the expansion of oncology services into Champaign County with the opening of Mercy Health - Urbana Cancer Center, bringing hematology and oncology care, infusion services, nurse navigation and access to clinical trials closer to home for patients
  • Recognized as a Becker’s Hospital Review CEO to Know
