Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH), the nation’s fifth-largest Catholic health system, has appointed Jeff Bross as the ministry’s new chief managed care officer, effective July 7. In this role, he will oversee managed care contracting across BSMH’s comprehensive portfolio of hospitals, ancillary providers and employed physicians. Bross will set the strategic direction of payer relationships and contractual partnerships, shaping where, how and with whom the ministry contracts, in support of long-term financial strength and mission-driven care.
His scope includes cultivating relationships with payers, brokers, local and national employers, affinity groups, municipal governments and internal stakeholders to advance value-based, sustainable care delivery.
“It’s a privilege to join Bon Secours Mercy Health and help advance its mission of extending the compassionate ministry of Jesus by improving the health and well-being of our communities,” said Jeff Bross. “At a time when there is increasing scrutiny on the relationship between health systems and insurers, we have a real opportunity to reimagine payer partnerships in a way that prioritizes access, transparency and financial sustainability. I look forward to working alongside our leaders and partners to create innovative, values-driven solutions that support both the ministry’s long-term strength and the needs of those we serve.”
Bross brings a wealth of experience in the managed care field, including the last seven years as senior vice president, managed care, with Memorial Healthcare System based in Hollywood, Florida, where he was responsible for nearly $2.7 billion in hospital revenue under contract. Prior to that, Bross held leadership roles at Tenet Healthcare Corporation based in Coral Springs, Florida, where he managed all regional payer agreements across Tenet markets nationwide. Additionally, Bross brings two decades of experience in the health plan sector, further enhancing his expertise in managed care.
“Jeff’s extensive background in managed care, combined with his strategic approach to payer relationships, makes him an ideal fit for this role,” said Bon Secours Mercy Health Chief Financial Officer Travis Crum. “We’re confident his leadership will strengthen the ministry’s ability to deliver high-quality, accessible care for our communities, while positioning us for long-term financial sustainability and growth.”
Bross earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from North Carolina State University and a Master of Business Administration in finance and marketing from the University of Miami.
