We embrace our calling to extend Jesus’ healing ministry through compassion and service.
Our ministry recognizes that the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age and the fundamental drivers of these conditions – known as the social determinants of health – greatly impact an individual’s ability to thrive and be well.
We continue to broaden and redefine our approach to addressing both social determinants of health and social needs for patients and communities. Supporting the development and expansion of patient screening, growing the number of partner organizations to address need and incorporating both areas into community-based assessments has allowed our ministry to create a better-defined path forward in identifying and addressing social determinants of health and social needs.
In 2023, as in previous years, we’ve utilized our Community Health Needs Assessment activity, community investment strategy, advocacy and public policy partnerships, cross-sector supports and health education and prevention programs to address a growing number of systemic and individual impediments to health and well-being.
This work has enabled us to provide more than $606 million in community benefits, including charity care, public programs, community building and improvement activities and services, education and research, and asset-based community investments that help to improve the health and well-being of those we serve. We are especially focused on patients and communities who are poor and underserved.
