Bon Secours Mercy Health Stipend Program

We offer residents financial assistance!

Physicians who have completed one year of training and who commit to serving at one of our many locations for at least two years following the completion of their residency will receive monthly financial assistance while they finish their training.

Am I eligible to receive the resident stipend?

  • Agrees to practice full-time (minimum of 36 hours a week) in-geographic area of a Bon Secours Mercy Health hospital, defined by community needs assessments, for at least two (2) years after completion of residency or fellowship; employed by Bon Secours Mercy Health Physician Group and/or participate in Bon Secours Mercy Health’s clinically integrated network.
  • Agrees not to during the two year period beginning the date Resident/Fellow begins the full-time practice of medicine within the geographic area served by Bon Secours Mercy Health facility (i) maintain an ownership, investment, partnership, or other equity interest in or with any Competing Healthcare Entity; (ii) be employed by or serve as a director, officer, manager, consultant, or independent contractor for any Competing Healthcare Entity, except as set forth on Exhibit C; or (iii) maintain a solo or Group medical practice that is owned (in whole or in part) or operated or managed by any Competing Healthcare Entity. For purposes of the Agreement (as defined below), “Competing Healthcare Entity” means a hospital, health system or other entity that provides health care services that are provided by Bon Secours Mercy Health, or any of their affiliates. This does not prohibit any Provider from maintaining staff privileges at, or referring patients to, another facility or provider.
  • Willing to relocate to the geographic area of a Bon Secours Mercy Health Hospital with need for that specialty that is mutually agreed upon (if not already committed to employment with Bon Secours Mercy Health).
  • Currently in good standing with training program and is on track for completion of training.
  • Must be and maintain full time status with residency or fellowship program in an ACGME, AOA or Bon Secours Mercy Health approved program.
  • Must pass Bon Secours Mercy Health Physician Group background check
  • Must have successfully completed one (1) year of training and is eligible to participate in program up to the last six (6) months of training.
  • Has no other assistance or contractual obligations which has a conflicting service obligation requirement;
  • Must sign the Training Program Stipend Agreement and Promissory Note (collectively, (the “Agreement”), regarding payment and commitment terms as generally described herein, including but not limited to repayment obligations if fail to maintain all required practice commitments for two years after commencement of full-time practice. Must within 120 days of completing residency or fellowship training, Resident/Fellow shall relocate to the mutually agreed upon geographic area and establish a full-time medical practice (minimum of 36 hours a week).
