As chief information officer (CIO), Laishy Williams-Carlson oversees Bon Secours Mercy Health information and technology (I&T) throughout the ministry. In this role, she leads the I&T and Epic electronic health record teams, and is responsible for information technology, applications, cyber security and digital solutions.
Williams-Carlson has been a member of the Bon Secours Mercy Health team for more than 35 years, previously serving as CIO of Bon Secours Health System, as well as regional and market VP/CIO. Prior to her involvement in and leadership of I&T, she was in finance, serving as controller and controller/CIO of Maryview Health System – Bon Secours.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Old Dominion University and her Master’s of Science in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Williams-Carlson led the effort to achieve “Most Wired” status for Bon Secours Health System and the HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 designation for several Virginia hospitals and physician practices. In 2014, she was named as one of the Top Women Powerhouses in Health IT by HIMSS Healthcare IT News.
